Felix the Cat was the first cartoon character to become popular. He was the world most popular animated character until the appearance of Mickey Mouse in 1928, but he was brought back in 1936, but disappeared again, but only returning in 1958 on TV. Felix currently one of world's most popular cartoon characters and also the oldest continuing cartoon character of all time today.
